You Can Make a Difference!

Don't wait to get involved! We want everyone in our community to be a part of this exciting project. Whether you contribute your time, money, or expertise, you’ll get the same feeling of accomplishment when our playground is complete.

There are three ways you can help:

1. Volunteer!

This community-built project needs the talents of everyone in our community. Make sure you sign up to be a part of this historic event!

Art, Design and Woodworking Committee Help design some of the educational components of the playground and/or create murals, appliqués, and other embellishments.  We are looking for people to help paint murals; no artistic skills required.  We are also looking for woodworking craftsmen familiar with scroll saws, jigsaws, sanders, routers, and other woodworking tools.
.
Tools & Materials Committee - This committee gathers together all the tools and materials needed for the build. They see that they are distributed efficiently and safely during construction and arrange for their owners to pick them up after the project is done.
"Give us the tools and we will find the job." - Winston Churchill

Volunteers Committee -
A community-built project needs the help of volunteers at every stage.  You will assist the Volunteer Coordinator by recruiting individual volunteers as well as volunteers from  corporations, service groups, civic organizations and schools.  In addition, you will help to organize the volunteers during build week.

Food Committee -

We need people to assist the Coordinator in organizing, serving and setting up meals and snacks for the many volunteers during Build Week.  The goal will be to make construction a time of festivity- not one of drudgery- and food can make the difference!

Childcare Committee
- During the build, we will need to provide child care for the children of our volunteers.  We are looking for people who can arrange for entertainment for the children as well as work with the children in accomplishing small tasks such as sanding wood, soaping screws and washing tires.

Construction Captains (10-12 individuals needed) - Captains oversee work crews and maintain the quality of the structure.  These individuals should enjoy working with people, be strongly committed to the project, and be willing and physically able to be on site for all five days of construction – from 7 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.  These people should be organized, flexible, and able to keep their wits and humor about them under difficult circumstances.  You do not need to be skilled in carpentry to be a Construction Captain.  Specific assignments will be given during construction.  They make it possible for the consultants to keep hundreds of volunteers working efficiently.  Strongly committed captains take care of the details that make working on a project fun, safe and productive.

Building Crew - We’ll need hundreds of volunteers per day during our 5-day build in October. Whether you’re handy with a hammer or not, we can use your help!
There will be free childcare and food and drinks provided to all volunteers.  So bring the whole family!  Let us know how you would like to help by filling out our volunteer form.

2. Make a Donation!
There are many ways you can help fund the playground:
(Please note, donations are tax-deductible.)

3. Spread the Word!

Help Us Find Volunteers
Encourage your family and friends to sign up (especially those who know their way around a 2x4!) and tell us about any civic or special interest groups you know that can help us. Or rally a group at your workplace to participate in the build!

Help Us Get Materials Donated
One of the most important ways we can afford to include all of the playground equipment is to get items donated. From lumber and nails, to prefabricated equipment, to tools and machinery - donated items will help reduce the dollars we need to raise. Know a business that can donate these things? Let us know!
